Mahogany Box with Brass Details

Handsome and beautifully detailed, this antique wooden box is a lovely example of Victorian craftsmanship. The richly figured wood glows in warm, honeyed tones, with swirling grain along the front and sides that gives the piece wonderful depth. Ornate pierced brass corner mounts frame the lid, and a scrolling brass ring handle adds a decorative focal point. A matching brass escutcheon surrounds the keyhole on the front.

The mellow patina and softly aged brass speak to its history, giving it the character that only comes with time. Use it on a desk or console to hold keepsakes, letters, or small treasures, or style it on a coffee table or bookshelf as a decorative accent. It pairs especially well with leather-bound books, candlesticks, and other collected objects for a traditional, layered look.
